NEW YORK - May 2003, CNN's Jeanne Moos caught up with Karen for an interview while she was speaking to the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo. The resulting piece, which ran on CNN News world wide, makes Karen's point clear: the lives of cats, big and small, are benefiting from the positive effects of clicker training.

High-Five Cat Contest Winner

Your Cats magazine, in England, held a contest, sponsored by Friskies UK, for the cat that learned to do the best "high five." I was the judge. There were so many entries (by photograph) that we couldn't pick just one winner. Here's one of the entries, and you have to agree, it's a quintessentially British scene. I don't know who's having more fun, the cat or the owners.

Karen Pryor, author of "Clicker Training for Cats," was the featured speaker for the Cat Writers Association annual awards banquet in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 2002. Pryor was the winner of last year's Purina-sponsored award for the best book on cat behavior. She discussed the rise of clicker training, her own experiences as a pioneer in the field, and clicker work with cats. A discussion of clicker ways to befriend feral cats and kittens brought the audience of cat experts to their feet in a standing ovation.

I recently purchased your clicker training kit. My girlfriend and I have a two-year-old cat called Marmite, we had saved her from a farmer who didn't like cats. He told us the cats attack the piglets. She is quite a feisty little thing but has a loving nature.
