Kilo Lani - my second parrot

One day I put out my hand for him to step up - since he appeared to want me to - and he bit my finger! I looked at my hurting finger and immediately remembered the words of Bruce Lee, "It is like a finger pointing to the moon - don't look at the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory!"

Coco accepts the flock for the first time!

When I first got Coco, I was just a little afraid that even though I believe that just about any parrot can be tamed with abundant positive reinforcement that I might not be able to pull it off - but we have.

How long does it take to get a parrot?

There are two ways to get a parrot fast: 1) buy one at a pet store with no planning on a whim, or 2) be known as someone who will take in an unwanted bird and give them a loving home. Of course, in order to do the second option, you have to have put in the long hard work to become that person.

Book Review #3: The Conure Handbook (Barron's)

There are a lot of different kinds of books about parrots - training books, behavior books, breeding books, nutrition books, and do-all books. The Conure handbook tries for the do-all book category.
