ClickerExpo Caps First Year: Enthusiasm, Interest, and Excitement

Clicker trainers from up and down the East Coast, from Canada, and from places as far south as Bogota, Colombia, flocked to the third ClickerExpo forum in Pennsylvania for three days of educational sessions designed to help people Rethink What's Possible (copyright) through the power of clicker training.

Who was there? A wonderful cross-section of trainers and teachers using clicker training with zoos, social work, sports, horses, marine mammals, developmentally disabled children, and of course, with dogs, cats, rabbits, and even turtles.

What Did Attendees Think of ClickerExpo Berkeley?

"I am the training officer for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit. We have about 10 dogs active with our unit. We are trying some of the things we learned at the Berkeley Expo. It was great!"

What Did Attendees Think of ClickerExpo Chicago?

A big success! The first ClickerExpo, held in Chicago, was a definite success judging by the evaluation / feedback forms turned in: 92% of those who turned in surveys said that they would recommend ClickerExpo to a friend and 90% of the respondents said that we either met their expectations, beat their expectations or "wowed" them. 22% alone described their experience as a "wow!"

Karen Pryor at Cat Writers Association Award Banquet

Karen Pryor, author of "Clicker Training for Cats," was the featured speaker for the Cat Writers Association annual awards banquet in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 2002. Pryor was the winner of last year's Purina-sponsored award for the best book on cat behavior. She discussed the rise of clicker training, her own experiences as a pioneer in the field, and clicker work with cats. A discussion of clicker ways to befriend feral cats and kittens brought the audience of cat experts to their feet in a standing ovation.
