Dogs in shelter

Hello! This is my first effort at blogging.

I am a retired virologist and have trained dogs by various methods for over 40 yrs.  I have also taught obedience classes at all levels thru Open. Presently I work at the SPCA Humane Shelter of Bexar County in San Antonio TX with the dogs that need help to be adoptable.  I have progressed thru the years from Pearsall tedhniques, Koehler method, positive reinforcement [0] and finally graduated to using the clicker [0] with positive reinforcement [0].  The shelter requires that we use no force, pinch collars, choke collars, etc.  A group from our obedience club, San Antonio Dog Training Club, work at the shelter. This  program has been in effect for about 6 yrs.

My biggest concern is transferring the behaviors we teach to shelter workers and volunteers.  We get the dogs to behave, but only for us reliably.  Part of the problem is a constant change in shelter help and in volunteers. Any suggestions would be welcome.
