I am boarding this nice cocker spaniel puppy, who was perhaps taken from his litter a bit too young. He is for the most part no longer leaping at us and biting us, he hasn't made me bleed now for at least a month, but still sometimes when we are holding and playing with him, he still might get over-stimulated and WANT to bite.
So what I do is stuff his toes in his mouth, and let him chew on that! It's a silly game, it's something I have always done with puppies without thinking much about it, but maybe it's worth sharing. It's great for teaching bite inhibition to a flexible puppy. The puppy gets very good feedback about "how hard is too hard" because, um, those are HIS toes he's biting.
