This is the greatest dog training book I have ever read (out of a large pile over past 22 years of dog training).

I read a lot!  I read text books cover to cover.  1000 page computer manuals before breakfast.  The first essential book for parrot training is: Clicker Training for Birds by Melinda Johnson

I am really pretty sure you can't train a brine shrimp - but, I could be wrong. 

When Coco has to go to the target, he often has to find a route to get there in 3 dimensions - the dog just has to walk across the floor.

I think I have been spoiled by training eager dogs in the past.  The parrot will be highly rewarding in the future, but for now, it is a lesson in patience and small progress and refinment.
